Bottega was established in 1977 by Aldo Bottega. He was a master distiller for over 30 years and inherited the passion for wines from his grandfather. It was not until 1983 when Aldo passed and left the company to his children – Sandreo, Barbara, and Stefano – that the company would start to gain a reputation thanks to an innovative distillation method. This method resulted in a smoother, more delicate grappa. In the early 1990’s the production of Il Vino dei Poeti, a Prosecco sparkling wine, took the company into the wine market. During the autumn of 2001, Bottega Rose Gold Prosecco was launched as a limited edition item and later introduced in the Duty Free shops of many large airports around the world. This wonderful Pinot Nero Spumante Brut is 100% Pinot Noir Prosecco and comes from the Lombardy region in Italy. The flesh and skins are separated by soft pressing and followed by the fermentation at 18 degrees Celsius. The year following the harvest is when the sparkling process begins. A second fermentation in steel containers begins according to the Italian Charmat method and can last as long as 90 days.

Venetian Prosecco is a part of Bottega’s Liquid Metal Collection which is a selection of super-premium sparkling wines. Each bottle – Gold, Platinum, and Rose – is unified by a chic, metallic packaging. The entire collection exudes luxury and elegance. The metallic bottles are not only visually appealing, but also practical. The darken bottle helps prevent light from reaching contact with the wine – keeping it fresh for a longer period. By 2005, Bottega Gold Prosecco was classified as a “glamorous sparkling wine” and distributed into the best bars all over Asia, Europe, and America. The “Best partnership Initiative of the Year” awarded by the event “Italian Drops” went to Bottega Gold and the Duty Free Shop in Puerto Iguazu in Argentina in 2011. Italian Drops combines businesses with the opera for the ultimate experience.

Nicolaus Copernicus, a 16th-century astronomer, presented us with the first mathematical model to support that the Earth is moving around the standing still Sun. Despite the belief that the sun was rotating around us, his equation was eventually accepted. A sunset, or sun down, is when the Earth is in a certain position to the sun and the sun “disappears to the other side of the Earth,” resulting in that area receiving view of the Moon. Sunsets create a beautifully unique visual – usually of intense orange and red colors from the sun and surrounding sky. Lunetta (Italian for “little moon”) Prosecco ties into our theme of our Rustic Sunset Prosecco Gift Basket.

Lunetta is produced in Northern Italy by Cavit who are the winemakers of America’s number one selling Pinot Grigio and imported Pinot Noir. They maintain a state-of-the-air sparkling wine facility. This stylish bubbly should not only be enjoyed on special occasions. Lunetta is a delightful aperitif and can be enjoyed with hors d’oeuvres, antipasti, and seafoods like sushi and shellfish. At 11.5% alcohol, it also makes a wonderful addition to brunches. This Prosecco’s grapes are hand-picked and vinified using the Italian Charmat method. The method includes a temperature-controlled fermentation process in stainless steel tanks and a secondary fermentation in untouched sealed tanks. The product is quickly bottled and ready to be enjoyed. The whole process takes a little over a month.
