Wyoming Whiskey Gift Basket
The Meads stand by three main things: Wyoming, family, and whiskey; in that order. Brad & Kate Mead are continuing the ranching tradition in the family and are also the founders of Wyoming Whiskey. They are an independent, family-owned company with a world-class distillery resting in the Big Horn Basin of Wyoming. All of their products are sourced locally from the 97,818 square miles of the state. Brad, who is also a pilot, is the CEO of WW while Kate runs the Spring Gulch and Kirby ranches. Their office is acres of open land and the rides of choice are horsebacks. This traditional style of bourbon comes from an untraditional place so we decided to switch up the style of Wyoming Whiskey Gift Basket.
Presented on a wooden cutting board – rather than the traditional container – Wyoming Whiskey is partnered with our most popular snacks. Crackers, pretzels, cheese spread, mustard, and other snacks are all jam-packed on the board along with a cheese spreader for convenience. It is the perfect mix, just like the Mead Family. They have had their share of WY Governors, extreme skiers, lawyers, and even U.S. Senators. The whiskey itself is a dark amber color with scents of florals, a hint of vanilla bean, and caramel pudding. Brown baking spices and browned butter will take over your taste buds along with vanilla crème, caramel, and light florals. Your mouth is on a roller coaster of smooth vanilla with a burst of cinnamon and a light mint hint. The palate is finished off with a lengthy toffee flavor and a vanilla fade.

The family started their ranch business in 1890 and 5 generations later – not much has changed. Sam Mead is one of the 5th generations of family workers and their Master Distiller. He started in Spring Gulch and Kirby Ranch as part of the hay crew when he was just 10 years old. In 2014, he joined the Whiskey side of the business and has been there ever since. David “Faz” DeFazio soon came along to help Brad and Kate with their bourbon. He added a distiller to his resume of jobs including river guide, lawyer, skier, wingman, Yankees fan, and late-night philosopher!
