M by Michael Mondavi
M by Michael Mondavi starts with Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted to Cabernet Clone 4 on 110R rootstock, which produces structured fruit with ample tannins and acid to balance the concentrated dark fruit flavors. In order to perfect his process, Rob Mondavi, Jr. consulted with viticulturist Danny Schuster to help unlock the secrets of his family’s Animo Vineyard. Rob and Danny harness an organic natural approach to the vineyard that exemplifies the beautifully, unique attributes of this site.
95 Points – Wine Advocate
Aromas of dark fruits and fresh French plums, with notes of roasted hazelnuts are at the core of the bouquet. The attack on the palate is soft, and delicate flavors of refined vine fruits and orchard blossoms mingle together providing a seamless wine with a lingering finish. This is an elegant medium body wine, flush with restrained opulence.
Michael Mondavi is known as the “quiet icon” among his friends and colleagues. He is widely credited with helping establish and build the Napa Valley wine industry as we know it. Drafted into the family business immediately following his college graduation, Michael often spent two thirds of the year traveling, promoting Mondavi wines and the Napa Valley wine industry in general.
