Prosecco is an Italian white wine that has been fermented to add carbonation to it. Different perlages (a fancy word for bubbles) of Prosecco include spumante, frizzante, and tranquillo. It is made from Glera grapes but other varieties may be included such as Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, and Pinot Nero. Prosecco is technically a sparkling wine but since the grapes are harvested in Italy and the wine is produced there – it receives its own name! You have probably taken a sip of this bubbly before and didn’t even know it! It happens to be one of the main ingredients in the popular American cocktail called the Bellini. The original Bellini was actually created with this bubbly – and not champagne – after 1948. It is a less expensive alternative to Champagne and is usually less dry. Prosecco has actually sold more bottles worldwide than Champagne since the recession hit because of its full flavor profile and lower cost. It has since become a stable at baby showers, brunches, and casual social events. All of our single bottles are 750ml unless stated otherwise in the description of the product.
