The term “bib & tucker” was used during Americas early rough and tumble days to describe your finest attire. Something you would probably wear to a wedding or a party of some sorts. Well, 35 Maple Street, right in the heart of Sonoma, California, named their bourbon after this fine attire because of its smoothness and being craft with dedication. They present to you: Bib & Tucker Bourbon. Try the Rustic Tucker Bourbon Gift Basket today! We took notes on this “old school” bourbon with a complex, chestnutty taste and set it in a rustic wooden box. The distressed box resembles an old kitchen draw and compliments the dark, old school glass where your new favorite bourbon is being held. Bib & Tucker has a delicious vanilla scent with hints of leather, sweet grass, and we stones. With such a savory flavor, we balanced this bourbon with an array of cookies, creamy chocolates, and fresh nuts. The rustic draw can be placed in a hallway as a catch-all or in the study as a paper holder or for files. Whatever your choice of use may be for the basket, it is definitely a statement piece. Sonoma, California is known as an open-minded town loaded with history and being extremely friendly. They clutch a bottomless respect for traditions and commitment while evolving their craftsmanship and commitment. These beautiful traits are someone they embody into all their products and everything that they do. Bib & Tucker Bourbon is no exception with its warm, spicy, and lightly crisp scent. As one of the smallest, and oldest, distilleries in Kentucky, Woodford Reserve Distillery is built on history. The site is where Elijah Pepper started his trade in 1812 and years later James Crow, a master distiller, perfected his whiskey methods. Today it was been regular practice to implement a sour mash into the fermentation process. The distillery is tucked in the hills of bluegrass and thoroughbred farms and is home to iconic copper pit stills, century old cypress wood fermenters, and a 500-foot-long barrel run which is fed through gravity. So I believe it is safe to say that Woodford Reserve Bourbon Whiskey isn’t manufactured, it’s crafted. Let’s take a deeper look into our Sophisticated Reserve Whiskey Gift Basket!
For all bourbon or whiskey drinkers alike, this basket is the perfect gift! In a faux leather suitcase we feature a bottle of Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select along with salty nuts, crispy pretzels, silky chocolates, and other snacks! This Woodford Reserve gift basket is an elegant gift for a gentleman’s birthday or even as a bachelor gift. The container can also double as a briefcase, desktop paper holder, or as an actually luggage piece.
Woodford Reserve has a clean, bright amber color and scents of dried fruit, mint, chocolate covered oranges, tobacco spice, and light vanilla. The artisanal process of this whiskey allows it to pick up the flavor of bourbon from five sources, giving it a distinct taste. Full, rich flavors of toffee, caramel, chocolate, complex citrus, cinnamon and spices overload your palate and prepare them for the silky smooth and warm finish. If you ever wanted to visit a distillery or Kentucky, you should check out the Woodford Distillery! You can take a guided educational tour right in the heart of bourbon country or check out their events calendar to see when you can learn how to craft this delicious spirit!

Purported to be the lightest of Beam’s “Small Batch Bourbon Collection,” Basil Haydens also boasts a mash bill with approximately twice as much rye as its siblings. In recent years, Basil Hayden has both removed its eight year age statement (switching to a no age statement or NAS labeling) as of early 2016, and skyrocketed in popularity.
A medium burnt caramel color in the glass, Basil Hayden’s approximately eight years is apparent in its rich color.
Corn bread, menthol, and dark fruit hit first on the nose, followed by figgy pudding, stewed plums, and cinnamon, highlighting a very slight pepper and punch. A spiced, minty, delicate nose to be sure. Baking spice and Christmas scents are present, but do not overwhelm the light body.
The dram is silky, with roasted pear, baked walnut-stuffed apples, and baking spice warming the front of the palate. Neither corn, oak, or char pull Basil Hayden in one particular direction, making for an incredibly balanced drinking experience. A very soft, smooth mouth feel is rounded out by cinnamon and golden raisin. Both complex and balanced, the bourbon’s high rye mash bill doesn’t overwhelm it, rather making for a nuanced flavor profile.
The finish is vegetal, with celery and savory polenta present. A short, not too sweet finish. Again very soft and light.

A 6 year-old barrel aged straight Kentucky Bourbon that’s charcoal filtered and bottled at 100 proof, Beanball Bourbon is named after the dangerous baseball pitch. “The beanball” was strategically used by frustrated pitchers and intended to hit batters in the head to scare them off the plate. BeanBall Bourbon Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey is believed to be from Dickel, but no confirmation; just the huge cracked corn component in the nose, which should be all you need. My, that’s tasty as it spreads like warm oil over the tongue, hot corn spirit spiked hard with oak. Good oak, dried corn, and a snap of mint in the finish. Nice selection…and interesting labeling in light of the recent Tennessee whiskey definition squabbles. Reviewed by: Lew Bryson
