Belle Epoque is French for “Beautiful Era.” It was a period of Western European history that began towards the end of the Franco-Prussian War in 1871 and ended around the outbreak of World War I. This was the era of the French Third Republic and characterized by regional peace, optimism, and cultural innovations. It received its name after it became, in retrospect, a “golden age” in comparison to the horrors World War I was causing. Since they started in 1918, Perrier Jouet has continued its quest for a creative spirit and perfection. The rarity and quality of their products has been guaranteed since 1958, including a cork with the year of the vintage and approval seal. The hand-painted bottles of Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque were designed by Emile Gallé who was a huge part of the art nouveau movement in 1902. The flowers are Japanese anemones.
A mixture of chardonnays, pinot noirs, and pinots meuniers make up the blend of Belle Epoque. Temperatures in April in the vineyard felt like those of summer and the beginning of summer had a rainy start with cooler temperatures for that time of year. Luckily, a strong sun in August brought the grapes to full maturity. The grapes received an early harvest and let to a generous vintage. Once the fermentation process is complete, the liquid is aged over six years in Perrier-Jouët’s cellars. Master Blender Hervé Deschamps emphasized this cuvées unique character.

‘Mosto’ is the identification of the pressed juices that remain from the grapes that eventually becomes the base of the wine after fermentation. The grapes are usually harvested August through September and must be juiced quickly for optimum flavor. The Moscato grapes have produced some of the world’s most famous wine after being harvested from the sundrenched hills of Piedmont. These steep hills provide the ideal environment and habitat for the fruit. The low alcohol content of Martini Asti allows the desire of another toast to be fulfilled and the perfect touch of bubble to any mixed drink!

A monk and cellar master at the Benedictine Abbey in Hautvillers (north-east France,) Dom Pérignon pioneered a multitude of techniques for winemaking in the 1670s. Being able to deal with grape’s flaws, he was the first to coalesce the grapes to improve the overall quality of the finished product: wine. He captured the process of bottling champagne wines in order to capture the bubble and maintain their natural sugars. Pérignon also invented a technique to produce clear fluids from black grapes and introduced corks which were fastened with hemp strings soaked in oil. This kept the wines sparkling and crisp. A true pioneer of his time, Dom changed the champagne game.
Godiva currently has over 600 store front locations throughout the world, including the United States, Europe, and Asia. Founded in 1926 in Bussels, Belgium, the first chocolate boutique was opened by founder Joseph Draps in honor of the legend Lady Godiva. Lady Godiva was an Anglo-Saxon noblewoman from the 11th century until the 13th century. She rode naked, covered only by her long hair.
