Moet and Chandon Nectar Rose Imperial Champagne is a flamboyant pink color with intense copper highlights and sets the visual tone for this powerful champagne.  Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay create an intense flavor of ripe berries, fresh red currant, and sensual caramel with nutmeg. Moët & Chandon has been around for 270 years and counting! They are considered the world’s most loved champagne. Have you ever seen the gorgeous champagne “waterfall” crafted from shallow champagne flutes? You can credit that to Moet. Do you recognize the spraying of champagne during celebrations? Yup, you guessed it! Moet started that trend as well. It started off in the 18^th with the sabering of bottles (using a sword to uncork the champagne) and the christening of ships. Who would have thought that three centuries later we would carry on these traditions? The spraying of the champagne started in 1967 when Dan Gurney won the 24-hour Le Mans race and was handed a bottle of Moet & Chandon. Overly excited, he shook the bottle and purposely sprayed the guests. It soon became a symbol of joy and celebration. The champagne was actually owes its name to Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. He visited Moet’s estates and awarded Jean-Remy Moët, the grandson of founder Claude Moët, the Légion d’honneur. This award happens to be one of France’s highest honors. Rumor has it that Napoleon and his troops fabricated the tradition of sabering bottles, specifically of Moet, to celebrate a victory. This has yet to be confirmed.

The House quickly became an icon of success and elegance; this standard remains true today. Moet & Chandon has been featured at many exulting moments from Napoleon’s conquests to The Oscars and everything in between from weddings to exclusive parties. We can thank Jean-Remy Moët for all of this! He introduced champagne to the world. Hundreds of years later, not much has changed.
