D’usse VSOP Cognac
The TIDAL X: 10|20 Event at the Barclays Center of Brooklyn, NY has been D’USSE’s largest activation yet. Activation is a marketing strategy when you pair together with a brand that is already well known. TIDAL X: 1020 was amplified by HTC and took place October of 2015. For those who do now know, Tidal is a music streaming service owned by hip-hop mogul Jay Z. To Celebrate 1 MILLION subscribers of the app the nonprofit charity show, featuring heavy hitters like Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, French Montana, Nick Jonas, and more, also featured a special guest: D’Usse VSOP Cognac.
First launched in June 2012, the French-based, high-end Bacardi produced V.S.O.P started its three year business relationship with Jay Z. So it was only right that he would share this Cognac with the rest of the world! Cognac is a wine-based spirit solely produced in the Cognac area of France. It must be produced from white grapes that are harvested from one or more of the 6 approved growing regions. Cognac must also be aged for a minimum of two years in French Oak Casks and have a minimum of 80 proof by volume.
D’usse wanted to be set apart from other cognacs. It is aged naturally for a minimum of 4.5 years in the cellars of France’s Château de Cognac. Cellar Master Michel Casavecchia blends two eaux-de-vie (French for spirits, literally “water of life”) which results in the bold character of this cognac. The result is a full bodied blend of rich, woody notes followed my florals and touches of cinnamon. It is superbly smooth with flavors of spices & almonds with finishing accents of honey and dried fruits. Casavecchia has been crafting some of the finest cognacs for more than 20 years. His vision of a bold, yet smooth cognac was succeeded when D’USSE was created.
D’usse VSOP Cognac
Although DUsse should be enjoyed neat or on the rocks because of its handsome flavor, you can also enjoy it in a cocktail. D’USSÉ™ VSOP Cognac is featured in a cocktail called “The Code” on D’usse’s website. In a shaker, add 1 ½ parts D’USSÉ Cognac, 1 part amaretto liqueur (like Lazzaroni) 2 parts pineapple juice, and a a dash of aromatic bitters (we like Hella Bitters brand: available here!) Shake contents in shaker and strain in a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a lime wedge and then enjoy!
